First things first, Lady Gaga really wanted to support gay pride and Chicago’s Gay Pride Parade. She even shared a photo on Instagram and captioned it: “Watching over Chicago Pride from my apartment and smiling so big. So many happy people. Happy pride!! #lovewins.” However, the soon-to-be American Horror Story: Hotel actress got a bit confused, because the parade she was watching was actually the Chicago Mariachi and Folklórico Festival. Basically, Lady Gaga was celebrating gay pride with help from mariachi bands. Even if she mistook the festival for a pride parade, overall, it sounds like a successful celebration if I do say so myself.
Pop star Lady Gaga had a bit of a bad romance with a gay pride parade in Chicago in that she claimed to be attending one, posting a photo of herself overlooking it, except the gay pride parade wasn’t in fact a gay pride parade, but actually a mariachi event.
According to IJR, Lady Gaga wanted to attend the gay pride in Chicago without wanting to leave her high-rise apartment, so she compromised by stepping out onto her balcony and taking a photo with the words “Gay Pride” painted across her torso while gesturing to the “parade” below.
Posting the photo to Instagram, Gaga made sure to say she was “watching” the pride parade in her caption.
“Watching over Chicago Pride from my apartment and smiling so big. So many happy people. Happy pride!!” she said.
Just one problem with her post: the “parade” below was not a gay pride parade, but a mariachi event. Clearly, just couldn’t be bothered to don the rainbow flag and go to the pride event herself and instead thought giving lip-service to her fanbase so they can clamor on about her wokeness was the better choice. The social media trolls saw through it.

Make no mistake, Gaga could not have possibly been watching the pride parade from her window as the two events took place five miles away.
