The majority of A-list celebrities did not rely on nepotism to get them where they are, in fact the few who have had the famous Hollywood connection, have worked hard to be recognized for their own talent rather than their last name. Reese Witherspoon began modelling when she was only seven years old. What followed were many commercials until she landed a role in The Man in the Moon when she was just 14 years old. She won the Oscar for best actor in a female lead when she was 29 years old in 2005 for Walk the Line.
#2. Elijah Wood
Elijah Wood was a favourite child actor in Hollywood appearing on hits like Paradise, Radio Flyer, and The Good Son. But many wondered if he would be able to transition into adulthood smoothly. He not only did that, but he did it playing the Hobbit Frodo in the Lord of the Rings epic movie franchise.
#3. Christian Bale
Christian Bale’s role in Steven Spielberg’s film Empire of the Sun was so convincing the media hounded him mercilessly. Bale recalls debating whether to quit showbiz as he found the demands too much. Instead, he chose to give lead a very private life while starring in major hits like American Psycho, Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, American Hustle, and the Big Short. Bale won the Oscar for best supporting actor for the film The Fighter in 2011.
She was the cute and overly articulate toddler in The Cosby Show when she made her TV debut in 1989. She turned into a teen star on That’s So Raven. As she grew up, she joined the all-female panel on the daytime show The View. She left the show to do the spin-off of That’s So Raven.

Scarlett Johansson’s career started in off-Broadway production of Sophistry. She was rejected all the time for commercials so her mom pushed her to audition for films instead. She landed her first movie role for North when she was just 10. Today she is Black Widow character in the Avengers franchise.
#6. Neil Patrick Harris
Neil Patrick Harris played the nerdy and quirky genius teen doctor in Doogie Howser when he was a teen. He appeared on Broadway winning a Tony in 2014 for best male lead in a musical. He was the leading actor in the hit comedy show How I Met Your Mother.
#7. Natalie Portman
Portman was discovered by a modeling agent at a pizza parlor when she was just 11 years old. Two years later, her first acting role was in the movie The Professional. She took time off from Hollywood to attend to Harvard University and earn a degree in psychology in 2003. In 2011, Portman won an Oscar for best actress in Black Swan. She is again nominated for the coveted award this year for her portrayal of Jackie Kennedy in Jackie.
#8. Britney Spears
Spears was the undisputed teen pop star in the early 2000’s. Despite her global music domination in pop music, Spears’ life was beginning to spiral out of control after her much publicized break-up with Justin Timberlake. She married an old school friend in Vegas only to have it annulled hours later. She married one of her dancers Kevin Federline and had two sons together. But after they separated she had a public meltdown where sole custody of her kids were given to Federline. After entering treatment, Spears made her comeback with hit albums like Black, Circus, Femme Fatale, and Britney Jean. In 2013, Spears started her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood where she currently earns $475K per show, according to TMZ.

Lopez had various roles as a kid in shows like The Golden Girls, but his big break came playing jock A.C. Slater in Saved By the Bell. He’s had guest roles in various shows throughout his career. He has settled in comfortably as the host the entertainment news show Extra. He also starred in his own reality TV show Mario Lopez: Saved by the Baby.
#10. The Olsen Twins
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were just babies when they shared the role of Michelle Tanner on Full House. As girls they had their own clothing line, and TV movies. By 2012, the fraternal twins announced they would be retiring from acting to focus on their fashion careers.
#11. Lindsay Lohan
Lohan began modelling when she was just three years old. She made various commercials and was part of the cast in the soap opera Another World. She landed the lead in the Disney remake The Parent Trap when she was 11, but her teen years were plagued with alcohol and drug abuse. In 2016, Lohan became involved in humanitarian work involving Syrian refugees.

Ricci was the adorable girl in the 1990 movie Mermaids with Cher when she was only 10 years old. But it was her dark and moody portrayal of Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family films that cemented her as a teen star. She has worked in Indie films and guest starred on TV shows throughout her adult years. She has lent her voice for animated movies like Smurfs 2 and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.
#13. Edward Furlong
Furlong was the lucky teen who landed the coveted role of John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He followed that with notable films like American History X, Animal Factory, and A Home of Our Own. Furlong battled drug and alcohol addiction between the ages of 22 to 26 but is now clean and sober.

Biel was a teen darling when she starred in 7th Heaven. She was part of some pretty successful movies like Blade: Trinity, Stealth, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, The A-Team, and Total Recall throughout the early 2000’s. In 2012, she married Justin Timberlake. The couple have a son together named Silas Randall Timberlake.
#15. Macaulay Culkin
Culkin was barely nine when he shared the screen with comedy legend John Candy in Uncle Buck. He followed that with the Home Alone franchise and other films. But Culkin left the spotlight, avoiding the media glare. He is the godfather to Michael Jackson’s first son but otherwise has nothing to with the entertainment world. He is part of the rock band Pizza Underground.

Coleman was the adorable boy in the comedy show Diff’rent Strokes, airing from 1978 to 1986. But when the show ended, two years later Coleman sued his parents mismanaging his assets. He made various attempts for a comeback starring in low budget productions without success. In 2010, he died of an epidural hematoma. He was only 42 years old.
#17. Drew Barrymore
Who can forget the adorable Drew Barrymore screaming when she meets the alien in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial? Barrymore’s addiction to drug and alcohol began when she was just a child. She fought it and beat her addictions by the time she was a teen, but it took her years to be taken seriously as an actor. She produced and starred in the Charlie’s Angels reboots. Currently, she stars in Netflix’s macabre comedy Santa Clarita Diet.
#18. Jason Bateman
Bateman appeared on hit TV shows in the 1980’s like The Hogan Family, Little House on the Prairie, and Silver Spoons. He was a teen star in the mid-1980’s and 1990’s with Teen Wolf Too, Some of My Best Friends, and The Sweetest Thing. As an adult, he has dominated in comedy films where he plays the straight man.

Alba was the lead in Dark Angel, James Cameron’s TV show. She transitioned to films with Sin City, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Honey, and The Eye. Frustrated with all the toxic products in the market she co-founded The Honest Company in 2010 and is now valued at $1.7 billion.

You either loved or hated the nerd Steve Urkel, White played in the sitcom show Family Matters. When the series ended in 1998, White devoted to doing voice work for animated shows like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic (SatAM) and Sonic Underground. He was a contestant of Dancing with the Stars in season 14 in 2012. He has guest starred in many TV shows over the years.

Foxworth went from bubble-gum teen sweetheart on Family Matters to starring in adult films. In 2009, People magazine announced the former actor welcomed a son with her boyfriend Michael Shaw.

Thiessen played the popular cheerleader in Saved By the Bell and later played the bitchy Valerie Malone in Beverly Hills 90210. She has appeared on various guest appearances as well as spoof movies since. In 2015, she had her own cooking show Dinner at Tiffani’s.

O’Neal is the youngest person to win the best supporting actress when she was just 10 years old in 1974. She didn’t work very much after it. She married tennis superstar John McEnroe in1986, but went through a nasty divorce eight years later. O’Neal tried to revamp her career by guest starring in Sex and the City and Law and Order: Criminal Intent.
