The Mayweather-McGregor Fight Is A Farce, These Training Videos Help Show Why

In previous posts on the subject, we’ve shared our emphatic opinion that the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing match on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas is a farce. Now, two training videos shared by the fighters to social media help drive home the point beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Above, is a brief clip of Floyd Mayweather — the best boxer of his generation — back in the gym after nearly a two year layoff. And he looks like he hasn’t missed a day. The speed, precision, and fluidity are beautiful to watch. He’s 40 years old, and his best days are certainly behind him. But he still appears to be in wonderful condition. He looks like he could fight tomorrow.

“I know I’m not the same fighter I was 20 years ago, I’m not the same fighter I was 10 years ago,” Mayweather wrote on Instagram. “As a matter of fact, I’m not the same fighter I was 5 years ago, I’m just an old legend putting in work in 16 oz. gloves.”

Now, let’s watch UFC star Conor McGregor:

Yeah…that’s…that’s not good. The speed disparity is just off the charts. From the looks of it, McGregor will have trouble landing a single clean punch on one of the greatest defensive boxers in history.

Mayweather vs. McGregor will be a unique spectacle between two larger-than-life personalities. On that basis alone, many will watch (and likely pay $100 to do so). The one thing it will not be is competitive.
