It’s no secret that Robert De Niro does not like President Donald Trump. He’s previously said that he wants to “punch him in the face.” In a new interview on Fox’s Good Day New York to promote the upcoming TriBeCa Film Festival, De Niro revealed that his feelings about the commander in chief have not changed.
Rosanna Scotto asked him about the presidency, specifically referencing cutting funding to the arts. De Niro answered, “I can’t articulate it well enough other than to say it’s ridiculous. It’s idiotic. This is guy has sullied the presidency, he’s debased the presidency. It’s just beyond surreal what this guy has done.”
When asked whether he stands by his previous comments, he said “He’s a mutt. Every word I said then I mean today. He has not changed.”
