Model and reality star Kylie Jenner sparked controversy when she posted a photo to Instagram in which she was pictured smoking a cigarette.
The socialite and “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star posted the picture to the social media site, garnering criticism from fans over the fact that she was taking a drag from a cigarette.
“She’s smoking. Unfollow — I thought you were cool,” one fan commented on the photo.
“Stop smoking nasty,” another added.
The photo was the second in less than a week to spark outrage among fans who feel as though she’s changing drastically because of her money and fame.
Mirror reported that a series of memes have surfaced that call out Jenner for her appearance, with one reading, “This type of puberty is called money.”
The 19-year-old recently admitted in an interview with Complex that fame is a difficult thing for her to grasp.
“It’s probably the hardest thing. You don’t know who you are. I didn’t know who I was a year ago, and I still don’t know exactly who I am now. You’re trying to grow up and make mistakes and everybody’s watching,” said the star, who is currently dating 27-year-old rapper Tyga.
Jenner even admitted to getting her lips done at the age of 16 and lying about it publicly.
“I wasn’t even 17 yet,” she said. “What if I came out and said, ‘Oh, yeah, I got my lips done’? What are all those moms going to think about me? These kids, my fans, they’re going to think I’m crazy. I didn’t want to be a bad influence. I didn’t want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself. But they thought it was crazier that I was lying about it because it was so obvious. I wish I had just been honest and upfront.”
Her decision to do so, she revealed, wasn’t seat-of-the-pants.
“It has been an insecurity of mine all my life,” she said. “[In middle school] this guy I kissed was like, ‘Your lips are really small but you’re a really good kisser. I didn’t think you were gonna be good at kissing.’ It was so rude. From then on, I just felt like I saw guys staring at my lips. I felt like no one wanted to kiss me.”
In the wide-ranging interview, Jenner also opened up about her relationship with rapper Tyga.
“The first year we started hanging out, everyone around him told him not to be with me. I still get comments like, ‘Don’t be with him.’ But we’re not doing it for the public — we love each other. We need to be together at all times. We never get mad at each other, we just figure things out,” she said.
