Kanye West allegedly suffered memory loss after he was hospitalized last year following his breakdown due to “extreme exhaustion.”
In an interview with Huffington Post published on Tuesday, West’s longtime friend and collaborator Malik Yusef said that the rapper was “healing” and getting his “memory back” after a rough few months. West was hospitalized for a “psychiatric emergency” at the end of November.
I’ve been to his house,” Yusef said. “Sat down with him for about 6, 7 hours. Just walking through his health and recovery.”
“His memory’s coming back,” he added. Yeah, his memory’s coming back, which is super good. And just healing. Spending time with his family. Saint [West, his child] is getting big and he’s walking and playing with toys so, you know, that invigorates him.”
“Not working,” Yusef responded when asked if his pal was working on any new material. “Not working. Just going through processes.”
West breakdown was reportedly caused by the anniversary of his mother’s death and extreme exhaustion.
The incident came just weeks after his wife, Kim Kardashian, was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris apartment. It also followed a series of bizarre rants at his concerts followed by news that he had cancelled the remaining part of his Saint Pablo tour.
