Wife Finds Disabled Vet In Tears, Then Sees What Neighbor Did

A woman finds her husband in tears who is a war veteran because of a wonderful surprise by an anonymous person.

Christopher Garrett, a former combat engineer was taking part in a night mission in Afghanistan, when suddenly, he was shot in the gut, which earned him medical retirement.

He returned back to his home, and tried to keep up with his normal duties, including mowing his lawn once or twice a week, and used a old-fashioned push mower.

Now Garrett has received 100 percent disabled rating, so doing such tasks was harder for him than others.

But it was recently, that his wife, Brittany, had found him outside crying. Nothing appeared to be wrong. But after talking with him, she discovered what was wrong, or actually right.

That changed one day when an incredibly generous stranger surprised the couple with a gift.

A note was left on the mower saying: ‘I hope this saves time for the things that matter most in your life. Thank you for your service and for my freedom. Sincerely, A grateful American.”

Both became overwhelmed with joy by the generous gift. Now he was able to focus on more things, like being a father to his children, and being a husband. This gift will surely save him some time and pain, and we are so happy for him!

Brittany shared the story on her Facebook page:

“Where do I begin? Something AMAZING happened today! As I was getting ready for my day, my husband appeared at the door with tears in his eyes holding our son. My heart sank and I thought someone we love took a trip to Heaven….He quickly assured me that no one had died, but someone had just given him a very expensive riding lawn mower! I don’t know who they are, but they have been watching my 100% combat disabled husband push mow our entire yard once or twice a week, and thought this would help make more time for the important things in life!!! THANK YOU WHOEVER YOU ARE!!! You don’t know how much pain this is going to save him from!!!”

Brittany shared photos along with her post of the brand new riding mower her husband was gifted and the note from the generous stranger.

Readers shared their thoughts on the touching story on the Mad World News Facebook page.

“With all the evil that is in the news, it is easy to lose faith,” one user commented. “Love and kindness such as this restores my faith in humanity. Thank you from a fellow vet for your service and your sacrifice. A special thanks to the neighbor who’s gift was so much more than material, it was hope, love, kindness and gratitude. This story made my day. Thanks to both heroes.”

“I can’t find words to express how this makes me feel,” another user wrote. “This person is an angel in a human body. I can only hope to be as kind and caring as this person. I also can’t think of a more deserving person to recieve it. I’m very greatful for the freedom this service man helped provide for me. God bless you for your service.”
