This is Willow Tufano.
At just 15 years old, she’s already incredibly smart and ambitious, with plenty of goals in mind. Willow has recently made a purchase that many other teenagers wouldn’t dream of.
Can you guess what she might have spent her hard-earned money on? That’s right: She’s already bought her own house.
She bought the property after saving about $6,000 for a down payment. The home was actually once worth $100,000.
Do to a foreclosure, it actually went up on the market for a mere $12,000. Her parents supplemented the other half of the price.
And just like that, Willow and her family had a brand new home. TV host Ellen Degeneres heard about her story.
The mogul donated $10,000 to Willow’s cause, so her and her family could make the improvements they needed to. DeGeneres said the reason she made the donation was because of Willow.
Here generosity, budgeting, and ambition really impressed DeGeneres. They documented the process along the way.
And the transformation is truly unbelievable. With a strict budget in mind, they improved every corner of the house.
No stone was left unturned in this house, and all of the work was done by the family. Willow made massive cosmetic improvements to the inside and outside of the home.
Here, you can see part of the process of refinishing the hardwood in the living room. Throughout the property, Willow and her family are taking a hands-on approach.
Here, you can see what the place looked like when it was gutted. They also made dramatic improvements to the kitchen.
The before and after of the cabinets are impressive — they were custom built for the home. Here’s what they looked like afterward.
Not bad, huh? And you should never underestimate the power of a good coat of paint.
This simple, affordable improvement can really change the atmosphere of a room. And Willow has even more tricks up her sleeve.
That’s right: She bought a second house. When she was done with the first house, she rented it.
That way, she was able to earn more money to buy the second. She bought this one on short sale.
And it only cost her about $17,500. She has plans to do the same with this one.
For Willow, each house is a new business endeavor and an opportunity. Her home improvements prove that there’s no limit to what you can achieve.
As long as you’ve got a long-term goal, patience, and fastidiousness. And at this rate, she’s well on her way to a house-flipping empire.
But of course, she has to graduate high school, first.
