They Were All At Her Funeral, Then They Heard A Tapping From Inside The…

Great.

I now have a new fear.

Seriously, this has to be one of the craziest stories I have ever written before but totally true!

Bella Montoya, 76, shocked everyone in attendance on Friday when she regained consciousness during her own burial.

The woman who was supposed to be dead started banging on the inside of her coffin during a burial in Ecuador. Gilbert Balberán, Montoya’s son, stated that “[Montoya’s] left hand was hitting the side of the coffin, and it was shaking.”

Only nine hours had passed since Montoya was pronounced dead by a doctor, who also gave Balberán a death certificate.

According to Balberán, his mother apparently had catalepsy as a result of cardiorespiratory arrest.

A person with catalepsy experiences physical rigidity diminished pain sensitivity, and delayed bodily processes, including breathing.

Those who assessed Montoya wrongly believed that she had died based on the symptoms she was displaying.

Medical personnel hurried to the site and transported Montoya back to Martin Icaza Hospital in Babahoyo, Ecuador, where she had previously been pronounced dead, after learning she was still alive.

“My mother is on oxygen. Her heart is stable,” reported Balberán. “The doctor squeezed her hand, and she reacted. They tell me this is a good sign because it means she is reacting little by little.”

“Now, I only ask that my mother’s condition improves. I want her alive and by my side,” the son added, calling the event a “miracle from God.”

At the scene, a video was captured of medical personnel attending to Montoya, who is visibly breathing. The woman is seen in the video being removed from her coffin and put on a stretcher before being taken to the hospital for treatment.
