Bay St. Louis Police Chief Killed by Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Officials with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department confirm Bay St. Louis’ top cop, Police Chief Mike DeNardo, has died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

DeNardo has been with the force since 2010 and at this time it is unclear whether the gunshot was accidental or unintentional.

That fatal shot was fired at the Bay St. Louis Police Department, however DeNardo was immediately rushed to the Gulfport Memorial Hospital.

According to a WLOX reporter, there were several officers on the scene who were visibly upset over the news that their chief had just lost his life.

“Shocked. He’s my good friend. I’m shocked that this happened,” said former city attorney and long-time friend Don Rafferty. – The News for South Mississippi
