• What Happened: President Trump challenged every lawmaker at the State of the Union to stand if they believe their first duty is to protect American citizens over illegal aliens. Republicans stood. Democrats sat.
  • Why It Matters: Trump honored Angel Families, called for the Dalilah Law banning commercial driver's licenses for illegal aliens, and announced VP JD Vance will lead a new war on fraud.
  • Bottom Line: Trump declared zero illegal border crossings over the past nine months and a 56% drop in fentanyl flow, while slamming Democrats for blocking deportations and funding sanctuary cities.

President Trump gave Democrats a simple choice Tuesday night at the State of the Union: stand up for American citizens or stay seated and show the country exactly where your loyalties lie.

They stayed seated.

Trump issued the challenge directly from the House chamber floor, inviting every lawmaker to rise if they agreed with one straightforward principle. "The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens," he said. The Republican side of the chamber rose immediately. The Democratic side did not move.

"Isn't that a shame? You should be ashamed of yourself for not standing up. You should be ashamed of yourself," Trump said, repeating it twice so nobody could miss it.

He was not done. Trump called on Democrats to end sanctuary city policies and demanded serious criminal penalties for public officials who block the removal of criminal illegal aliens. "They're blocking the removal of these people from our country, and you should be ashamed of yourselves," he said.

Trump then made the consequences of open border policies impossible to ignore. He honored Angel Families in the gallery, including Jacqueline Medina, whose 16-year-old daughter Lizbeth was stabbed 25 times by an illegal immigrant in Texas in 2023 and never made it to her town's Christmas parade. He also honored 5-year-old Dalilah Coleman, paralyzed in a crash caused by an illegal immigrant who had been handed a commercial driver's license by California. Trump called on Congress to pass the Dalilah Law, banning any state from issuing commercial driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

On results, Trump was direct. Zero illegal border crossings over the past nine months. Fentanyl flow down 56% in one year. The strongest and most secure border in American history.

He also announced Vice President JD Vance will lead a formal war on fraud, pointing to an estimated $19 billion plundered from Minnesota taxpayers by members of the Somali community as exhibit A of what unrestricted immigration costs the American people.

Democrats sat through all of it. The country was watching.
