This is what pure evil looks like.
Thirty-five-year-old Robert Richens murdered his ex-girlfriend, 40-year-old Rachael Vaughan, last May. After calling 999 to confess to the killing, footage played in court showed Richens sobbing in the back of a police car. But he was not crying about taking a life. He was crying about missing the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
"I'm going to miss GTA, innit?" Richens said through tears.
The officer asked which GTA he was talking about. Richens clarified it was GTA 6. The officer told him he had ages before it came out. That did not stop Richens from sobbing like a child.
NEW: Man starts sobbing after he realizes he is going to miss GTA 6 while being arrested for murdering his ex-girlfriend.

Let that sink in. This man just admitted to murdering his ex-girlfriend, and his first emotional breakdown was not about what he had done. It was not about the life he took or the family he destroyed. It was about missing a video game.
Richens showed more emotion over a fictional crime simulator than he did over committing an actual murder. He cared more about playing a game where you steal cars and shoot people than he did about the real woman whose life he ended.
This is not just disturbing. It is a glimpse into the mind of someone who has completely lost touch with reality. Someone who values entertainment more than human life. Someone who can take another person's life and then immediately worry about his own inconvenience.
Richens was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison. That means he will miss GTA 6. And GTA 7. And probably GTA 8 if they ever make it.
Good. He deserves far worse than missing a video game. Rachael Vaughan deserved to live. Her family deserves justice. And Richens deserves to rot in a cell for what he did.
This is the kind of depravity that exists in the world. And it is a reminder that some people are beyond redemption.
