- What Happened: Illinois Governor JB Pritzker told The Daily's podcast that if Democrats win in 2028, Trump officials and federal agents who "broke the law" must be "criminally prosecuted, criminally prosecuted" and pursued civilly if criminal charges are not possible.
- Why It Matters: Pritzker is openly calling for a coordinated post-election prosecution campaign against the current administration. He framed it as Democrats needing their own "Project 2029" to match the speed and boldness of Trump's agenda.
- Bottom Line: Democrats are not hiding it. They are announcing it. If they win in 2028, they plan to come for every Trump official they can reach.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker just told the country exactly what Democrats plan to do if they take back the White House in 2028. And he said it out loud, on the record, without apology.
In an interview with The Daily podcast, Pritzker was asked what a "Project 2029" agenda would look like for Democrats. His answer was direct.
"We've got to restore the rule of law, and that means holding people accountable who've broken the law," Pritzker said. "I'm talking about in this administration. When we get a new one, the people in this administration who've broken the law and federal agents who've broken the law need to be held accountable. And that means criminally prosecuted, criminally prosecuted, civilly prosecuted, whatever it is that we can do. It may be that you can't criminally prosecuted somebody, but that you can go after them civilly."
WEAPONIZATION: Illinois Gov Pritzker just explained Project 2029. Democrats plan to criminally prosecute Trump officials through a weaponized DOJ and use NGO civil suits to bankrupt Republicans through lawfare. They are not hiding it. They are announcing it.

That is not a policy platform. That is a threat. Pritzker is calling for criminal prosecution of federal agents and Trump administration officials as a top priority of a future Democratic administration. Not as a consequence of specific crimes already charged. As a political agenda item to be executed on day one of the next Democrat presidency.
He framed it as Democrats needing their own version of Project 2025, calling for boldness, speed, and an aggressive first-year agenda. He praised his own record as governor, saying he "swiftly enacted" his agenda in year one and that is "the way to operate."
Pritzker is not a fringe figure. He is the sitting governor of Illinois, a billionaire, a 2028 presidential prospect, and one of the most powerful Democrats in the country. He is not a random congressman posting on X. He is laying out what the Democratic Party's governing agenda looks like when they get back into power.
This is the mirror image of what Democrats spent four years calling authoritarian when Trump did it. The difference is Pritzker is saying it before he wins, not after. He is announcing the plan. He is daring Republicans to believe him.
Believe him.
