• What Happened: Two off-duty ICE agents in Plymouth, Minnesota saved a four-year-old boy who had been underwater for over five minutes.
  • Why It Matters: The agents performed CPR on their own time until paramedics arrived and the boy regained consciousness.
  • Bottom Line: The Plymouth Police Department sent ICE a formal commendation letter and DHS is calling them the best of the best.

Two off-duty ICE agents were sitting down to dinner at a restaurant in Plymouth, Minnesota on February 20 when a panicked mother ran in begging for help. Her four-year-old son had jumped into the hotel pool to retrieve a toy and had been underwater for more than five minutes. He was not breathing. He showed no signs of life.

The agents did not hesitate for a single second.

They followed the mother to the pool, took control of a chaotic scene, and immediately began CPR. They worked on that little boy for several minutes until Plymouth Police officers arrived and took over. After ten more minutes of CPR, the child began breathing on his own. He was transported to a local medical center where he was found awake and alert.

A mother still has her son because two ICE agents happened to be in the right place and never thought twice about running toward the emergency.

The Plymouth Police Department sent a formal letter of commendation to ICE recognizing the agents for their heroism. "On behalf of the Plymouth Police Department, I want to extend our thanks and gratitude for the efforts of the ICE officers in saving the life of a 4-year-old boy," the letter read. "Truly excellent work."

DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis did not mince words. "If our agents had not been there and stepped up, this would have been a tragic outcome," she said. "Because of their training, these two agents were able to save a life. Our agents are the best of the best. Every single day they put their lives on the line to save American lives."

This happened in Minnesota. The same state where the left has spent weeks painting ICE agents as villains, calling them stormtroopers, and doing everything possible to turn the public against the men and women enforcing immigration law. The same state where sanctuary policies recently allowed an illegal alien truck driver to walk free after a crash.

Those agents were not deporting anyone that night. They were saving a child's life on their own time because that is who they are.

God bless them both.
