Patriot Brief
- What Happened: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani suggested America should take notes from Prophet Muhammad when it comes to migration, calling Islam "a religion built upon a narrative of migration."
- Why It Matters: Mamdani compared Muhammad fleeing Mecca and being welcomed in Medina to modern immigration, suggesting the U.S. should follow that example.
- Bottom Line: The mayor is using his Islamic faith to argue for more open borders and welcoming illegal immigrants.
New York City's new mayor just told America it should model its immigration policy after a 7th century Islamic prophet.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani suggested during recent remarks that the United States should take notes from Prophet Muhammad when it comes to migration. "I consider my own faith, Islam, a religion built upon a narrative of migration," Mamdani said.
He went on to compare illegal immigrants flooding into America with Muhammad's journey from Mecca to Medina. "The story of the Hijrah reminds us that Prophet Muhammad was a stranger too, who fled Mecca and was welcomed in Medina," the mayor said.

Let that sink in for a moment. The mayor of America's largest city is using a story from Islamic history to justify open borders and sanctuary city policies that have turned New York into a magnet for illegal immigration.
This is not about compassion. This is about using religion to push a political agenda that puts illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens. New Yorkers are dealing with overflowing shelters, rising crime, and billions of taxpayer dollars being spent on people who broke the law to get here. Meanwhile, their mayor is invoking the Prophet Muhammad to guilt them into accepting it.
The comparison does not even make sense. Muhammad was fleeing persecution in Mecca and was invited to Medina by people who wanted him there. Illegal immigrants are not being invited. They are breaking into the country, overwhelming cities, and draining resources meant for American families.
Mamdani is entitled to his faith, but he was not elected to run New York City based on Islamic migration narratives. They elected him to protect their safety, lower their taxes, and enforce the law. Using religion to justify sanctuary policies that endanger citizens is not leadership. It is manipulation.
New Yorkers deserve better than a mayor who thinks 7th century migration stories should dictate 21st century immigration policy. America has laws. Either we enforce them, or we do not have a country.
