Patriot Brief

  • What Happened: Hidden cameras captured former Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey claiming January 6 was "all staged" and that Mitch McConnell wanted it to be a "mess" to secure Trump's impeachment.
  • Why It Matters: Shirkey said the riot was "pre-arranged" by someone other than Trump supporters and suggested McConnell conspired with Pelosi and Schumer.
  • Bottom Line: After apologizing for "insensitive comments," Shirkey was caught on a hot mic telling a lieutenant governor "I frankly don't take back any of the points I was trying to make."

A secret recording just exposed a GOP leader claiming January 6 was staged by Mitch McConnell to impeach Donald Trump.

In February 2021, hidden cameras captured then-Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey during a meeting with Hillsdale County Republican Party leaders who were planning to censure him for being "insufficiently conservative." What Shirkey said on that recording is explosive.

"It was all staged," Shirkey said, claiming the January 6 Capitol riot was a "hoax" orchestrated by powerful figures in Washington.

Shirkey went further. He accused then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser of being involved in a conspiracy to allow a "mess" to happen so McConnell could secure a Trump impeachment conviction for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

"Mitch McConnell wanted it to be a mess so he could secure a Trump impeachment conviction," Shirkey claimed in the video.

He also said the riot was "pre-arranged" by someone other than Trump supporters, suggesting powerful figures manipulated events to destroy Trump politically.

After the Detroit Metro Times reported the video, Shirkey issued an apology for his "insensitive comments" and "lapse in restraint of tongue." But that apology did not last long.

One day later, Shirkey was caught on a hot mic telling Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, "I frankly don't take back any of the points I was trying to make. Some of the words I chose I do regret."

He later clarified to a liberal advocacy group that he considered the "hoax" to be the fact that the event was blamed on Donald Trump instead of the people who actually orchestrated it.

This is a sitting state GOP leader claiming on hidden camera that January 6 was staged by Mitch McConnell to frame Trump. Then apologizing. Then immediately taking it back on a hot mic.

Whether you believe Shirkey or not, his comments reflect what millions of Americans suspect. That January 6 was not what the media and Democrats claim it was. That powerful people had motives to see it happen. And that the official narrative does not add up.

Shirkey's recording raises serious questions. Who benefited from January 6? Who had the power to orchestrate or allow it to happen? And why did Mitch McConnell act the way he did in the aftermath?

The American people deserve answers. And videos like this prove they are not getting them.
