• What Happened: A former elementary school in northeast Lubbock, Texas reopened as the Unity Center, a large religious facility occupying the full Arnett Elementary campus.
  • Why It Matters: The speed of the transition and the scale of the property have prompted questions about zoning, funding sources, and local oversight.
  • Bottom Line: Residents are calling for transparency from city officials about how the project moved forward so quickly.

When a full public school campus changes hands and reopens under a new banner in just weeks, people are going to ask questions. In northeast Lubbock, Texas, the former Arnett Elementary School has been transformed into the "Unity Center", a large religious facility spanning classrooms, gym space, offices and athletic fields. Whether residents support it or oppose it, the scale and speed of the transition (just 40 days) have raised eyebrows. And in a city that prides itself on community involvement, transparency matters.

Unity Center President Mohamad Altabaa exclaimed that the "project came together in just 40 days and has received support from around the world."

“Just randomly I don’t have any experience with social media or video editing or anything like that, I just grabbed my phone and started recording and we made a small Instagram reel,” Altabaa explained. “That reel actually went viral and it got millions of views and kind of turned into this huge community project. People from all over the world are donating and coming out, even today we have people from all over the US and someone’s even flying in from London to help and volunteer for the opening weekend.”

Yikes.

Rair Foundation reports:

Lubbock is now the latest target in the Islamic takeover – and it’s happening faster than you can say “Sharia.” Just this weekend, on February 15, the so-called “Unity Center” opened its doors in a former elementary school in northeast Lubbock. But don’t be fooled by the name – this isn’t about unity; it’s about expanding the Islamic conquest.
The Unity Center occupies the entire Arnett Elementary School – a sprawling campus with classrooms, a gym, cafeteria, library, administrative offices, and outdoor sports fields. This isn’t some tiny prayer room; it’s a fortress capable of hosting hundreds, if not thousands, for worship and indoctrination.

Don't be deceived. This so-called “Unity Center” is anything but unifying. This is part of a rapid Islamic takeover in the United States. If you pay attention, it's clear that their goal is rapid expansion across the state with Brotherhood links and foreign influences.

This is raising eyebrows, and for good reason. A 40 day conversion is insane. Major property transitions deserve sunlight, not silence. If everything was done by the book, city leaders should have no problem laying out the details clearly for the public they serve.
