A 21-year-old Atlanta man was found dead Wednesday morning in a wooded area of Fair Oaks Park in Marietta, Georgia, prompting a full investigation by the Cobb County Police Department.

The Cobb County Rangers Unit, which patrols county park properties, responded after a caller reported a body near the park located at 1465 W Booth Road. Officers secured the scene and called in the department's Major Crimes Unit to take over the investigation.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the park and surrounding areas, conducted witness interviews, and collected physical evidence from the scene. That footage showed the man entering the wooded area alone on February 14 at approximately 4:28 p.m.

Based on that evidence, investigators found no signs of foul play and no indication that anyone else was involved in the man's death.

"We understand that incidents like this can cause concern within the community," said Officer Aaron Wilson, spokesperson for the Cobb County Police Department. "The Cobb County Police Department takes every death investigation seriously and conducts a thorough review of all available evidence before making any determinations."

Detectives have classified the death as a suicide. The man's next of kin has been notified.

The investigation remains open pending final autopsy results from the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office. Police say findings will be updated if any new information surfaces.

I do agree that it seems strange for a black man to commit suicide by hanging himself. But I find it even more suspicious that there is hardly any news coverage. Is that because it doesn't fit the narrative right now? They only use stories like this when it benefits the division?
