There’s no way to sugarcoat it, so here it is:
Is New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez intentionally and maliciously deceitful? Is she simply stupid and forgetful?
One of those two explanations would explain why the rabidly pro-union Ocasio-Cortez was observed driving around in a Tesla electric vehicle — a vehicle that both benefits her arch-nemesis Elon Musk’s bottom line and is not constructed by union employees.
When she appeared on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Saturday, host Margaret Brennan questioned Ocasio-Cortez about her seemingly paradoxical choice of vehicle, which contradicts her huge commitment to supporting the much-publicized autoworker strike.

“You were quoted back in July saying you look forward to buying a union-made electric vehicle, but you currently have a non-union-made Tesla,” Brennan said. “UAW already makes some electric vehicles. Why wasn’t that [the way you went]? Is it a problem with the quality? Is it a problem with the style? Is the market just not there?”
“Uh, no,” Ocasio-Cortez responded.
She then launched into a word salad that would embarrass the incumbent vice president:
“Our car was purchased during the pandemic when travel, before a vaccine had come out, so travel between New York and Washington, the safest way we had determined was an EV, but that was prior to some of the new models coming out on the market that had the range available, but we’re actually looking into trading in our car now.
“So, we’re looking into it, and hopefully we will soon.”
“Soon” has a peculiar meeting for the congresswoman.
Despite Brennan’s citation of a July quote, Ocasio-Cortez has been talking about selling her Tesla since at least May of last year.
So it’s been well over a year since she promised to give up her car.
And, while the idea of a Democrat politician not adhering to any sort of deadline is nothing new, it’s also worth noting that Ocasio-Cortez was repeating the same exact talking points in May 2022.
“At the time, it was the only EV that could get me from New York to Washington on like one or one-and-a-half charges,” she told Bloomberg News then.
Familiarly, she added: “I would love to switch.”
So, Congresswoman, which is it?
Are you stuffed with bologna? Do you really worry about the fate of autoworkers while you go around in your flashy car?
Or are you the political equivalent of Dory, the funny fish from the “Finding Nemo” movies who suffers from short-term memory loss?
Unfortunately, this writer believes it is the latter, which means that Americans can fully anticipate Ocasio-Cortez to make the same argument about why she is still driving a Tesla in another year.
