Walgreens Just Opened A Store They Say Is IMPOSSIBLE TO STEAL FROM….
Before 1916, when Piggly Wiggly built the first self-service grocery store in Memphis, Tennessee, customers had to give a clerk a list of the things they wanted, and the employee would then go find the items wherever they were located in the store.

Only two aisles of so-called “essentials”—likely inexpensive items that aren’t often shoplifted—can be purchased at a renovated Walgreens site in downtown Chicago that reopened on Tuesday.
A consumer can order items from a kiosk and pick them up from the counter if they are not already on display in one of those aisles.

“Let us do the shopping” a sign next to one of the tablet-sized kiosks read (emphasis original).
The sign also advised consumers to “relax while we shop for you,” but it wasn’t apparent exactly where in the two-aisle area of the store where customers might relax.
Although the corporation made an effort to portray the adjustments as being focused on “customer service,” it was apparent that loss mitigation played a larger role in the redesign.
“This redesigned store will have the latest in e-commerce offerings to increase customer service, mitigate theft, and increase safety for our customers and employees,” the company said in an email to a local resident, according to CWBChicago, which labeled the location an “anti-theft” store.
According to a statement provided to the outlet on Thursday, Walgreens was “testing a new experience at this store with new concepts, technologies, and practices to enhance the experiences of our customers and team members.”
The bottle of Coke the CWBChicago customer bought was almost overcharged when the machine rang up the price at $2.89 rather than the advertised $1.89.
According to the outlet, it took two store staff to fix the issue.
The new internet store did not receive many favorable responses.

I don’t blame any company for trying to stem loss prevention and theft but this design looks inconvenient especially for seniors and disabled. Plus I resent that as a society we all have to always change our ways of living to accommodate criminals and reprobates.

The business might want to consider setting up comparable storefronts in criminal-infested San Francisco, where a lady was detained on Thursday during a traffic stop after more than $1,000 worth of items from a nearby Walgreens were discovered in her vehicle, according to KRON.
