A Trump voter who was caught on cell phone video last week accosting his fellow airplane passengers as “Hillary bitches” has been permanently banned from Delta, according to an internal memo obtained by CNBC.
“He will never again be allowed on a Delta plane,” the memo says.
“Donald Trump baby! That’s right, this man knows what’s up. We got some Hillary bitches on here,” the man said in a video that was shared on Facebook and has been viewed over 2 million times.
“It’s y’all’s president. Every goddamn one of yous. If you don’t like it, too bad,” he added.
Delta issued a statement shortly after the video went public, saying that the airline was investigating the matter.
Many on Twitter noted that while the “Hillary bitches” man had been allowed to reach his destination, people had previously been kicked off airplanes for offenses such as doing calculus (after a passenger mistook the calculations for some sort of terrorist code) and saying “inshallah” (a common benediction in Arabic, meaning “If Allah wills it.”)
In his memo, Delta CEO Ed Bastian writes that the flight crew was not in possession of all the facts when they decided to let him stay on the plane. Had flight attendants personally witnessed the behavior revealed in the video, there is “no question” that the man would have been removed from the flight, he wrote.
“The heightened tension in our society means that now more than ever we must require civility on our planes,” he wrote.
All customers are being refunded for their airfare, the memo adds.
