Trump: Media Has Treated Me Worse Than Any Politician [WATCH]

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that “no politician in history” has been treated worse, or more unfairly, “especially by the media” than he has.

Trump made the comment while addressing the United States Coast Guard Academy graduates in New London, Connecticut, CNN reported.

“Over the course of your life,” Trump told the class of nearly 200 service members, “you will find that things are not always fair. You will find that things happen to you that you do not deserve and that are not always warranted but you have to put your head down and fight, fight, fight.”

Trump urged the cadets to “never, never, never give up” because “things will work out just fine.”

The president then offered an example from his own personal experience.

“Look at the way I have been treated lately, especially by the media,” Trump said, repeating a line he recited frequently on the campaign trail, and continues to use as president. The president then declared that no other politician has ever received such negative treatment from the media.

“No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly,” Trump said.

“You can’t let them get you down. You can’t let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams,” Trump told the Coast Guard graduates. Members in the audience, many of whom CNN reported were wearing red “Make America Great Again” hats, cheered and applauded the line.

Trump, in a seemingly off-the-cuff remark, reacted to the audience’s excitement.

“I guess that’s why we won,” the president said.

In his speech in Connecticut, Trump claimed his administration was in the process of delivering on three key domestic promises: tax reform, healthcare reform and the construction of a border wall with Mexico.
