A Tennessee family says their 4-month-old survived after a tornado destroyed their Clarksville mobile home and swept him from his bassinet—then was found crying in a fallen tree about 30 feet away, according to an Opposing Views account that cites CNN.

Family’s account of the seconds that followed

Sydney Moore, 22, said she was inside with her two sons and her boyfriend, Aramis Youngblood, 39, when the storm suddenly intensified. Moore said she grabbed her 1-year-old, Princeton, while Youngblood moved toward 4-month-old Lord, who was sleeping nearby. The tornado ripped the bassinet into the storm, carrying the infant away, according to the report.

The mobile home’s walls collapsed. Youngblood was thrown by the wind and later suffered a dislocated shoulder, the story says. After Moore escaped the wreckage with Princeton, the family realized Lord was missing.

Found in a fallen tree

Youngblood began digging through debris and searching outside. About 10 minutes later, he found Lord alive and crying, lodged in a fallen tree roughly 30 feet from the destroyed home, according to the report. Responders determined the infant was breathing and ultimately healthy after receiving care for facial cuts and an injury near his ear.

Rescue scene and wider damage

The family’s reunion unfolded as emergency crews worked through widespread destruction in the area. Opposing Views reports that fallen trees crushed the family’s vehicle and initially blocked responders, forcing them to walk more than a mile while seeking medical help. A Clarksville firefighter recalled the infant was covered in mud with cuts to his face before an ambulance provided care.

Separately, CNN reported multiple tornadoes across Tennessee with at least six people killed, hundreds of homes destroyed, and thousands displaced.

Aftermath and one more discovery

The family lost most of their possessions and has temporarily moved into a hotel, according to the report. Sydney’s sister, Caitlyn Moore, set up an online fundraiser. Amid the debris, relatives also found a container holding the ashes of Sydney and Caitlyn’s late mother intact—an outcome Caitlyn viewed as a miracle, the report says.
