A video has been making the rounds on YouTube and Facebook this week that shows just how difficult the job of policing can actually be. This female officer, responding to a call at a McDonald’s restaurant, finds a man behaving erratically. She confronts him, and pulls her taser, then the man punches her in the face.
In the YouTube clip, the female cop can be seen pointing a stun gun at a man in the doorway of a McDonald’s restaurant. They two speak for several minutes, with the officer calling for backup on her radio before finally putting away the stun gun and walking towards the man.
As the officer moves into the doorway of the restaurant, the man approaches her, puts his fists up and punches her in the side of the head.
He backs away slowly with his fists in the air as the officer positions herself and fires the stun gun at him, causing him to fall to the ground.
“Turn around and put your hands behind your back! I’m not going to let up!” the officer yells. “Turn around and put your hands behind your back. You do not hit a cop, ever.”
As the man lays on the ground, refusing to turn around, the man behind the camera can be heard saying, “You don’t hit a f***ing woman.”
The officer continues to use the stun gun on the man as he continues to refuse to comply. Finally, after several shocks from the stun gun, the man relents and turns over with his hands behind his back.
“Do not move until someone else comes here. Do you understand what I’m saying? You never place your hands on anyone.”
“Yeah, I know,” the man responds right before the video ends.
The clip quickly went viral, with many praising the officer for how she handled the situation.
“He got exactly what he deserved, good for her, she repeated over and over for him to roll over and put hands behind his back which he refused to do until after many attempts, shame that taser didn’t have much longer bursts maybe he would have got the point sooner. He seemed to be a slow learner,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“That was awesome, I had to watch it a few times I enjoyed it so much. Once he was down she should have kicked him in the Family Jewels for good measure,” another added.
In a similar incident, a female police officer in Chicago was beaten by a suspect after refusing to use her gun to defend herself because she feared public backlash.
“She looked at me and said she thought she was gonna die, and she knew that she should shoot this guy, but she chose not to because she didn’t want her family or the department to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news,” Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said of the officer who was injured in the attack, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The man who beat the officer, 28-year-old Parta Huff, left two officers with several injuries, including concussions, during the attack.
