Maybe some of us have either thought about or actually gone through some sort of body transformation like plastic surgery or even tattoos. But imagine spending over $120,000 on it…
Well, that’s what Amber Luke has done – also known as ‘Dragon Girl!’
Being an adult has many advantages, including the freedom to do whatever you want (of course, as long as you are within the boundaries of the law). You can wear whatever you desire and look however you please.
Amber Luke who is located in Brisbane, Australia is a young woman who developed her uniqueness to a new level, without caring one bit about what others think of her.
Amber began her journey to cover herself with tattoos when she was 16 years old.
Her fascination with ink was something that would change her entire life.
Over the years, Amber has got tattoos all over her body; she has really done everything in her power to get as much ink in her as possible. She has covered most of her body with tattoos.
Along with the many tats, Amber has also had body modifications including cheek and lip fillers, punctured ear lobes, a breast augmentation, a Brazilian butt lift, dermal piercings, and even a split tongue.
According to The Daily Star, by April 2020 she had spent over £20,000 (AU $37,000) on the extreme look before she underwent a $120,000 head-to-toe transformation.
Luke spent $50,000 on about 600 tattoos, including having blue ink injected into her eyeballs in a 40-minute procedure that blinded her for three weeks.
“Unfortunately, my artist went too deep into my eyeball. I was blind for three weeks. That was pretty brutal”.
And with her various extreme body modifications, She also spent $70,000 on it.
However, behind her transformation, Amber has also opened up about the fact that she has been struggling with mental illness. The alternative model says she suffered from depression and suicidal ideation for years.
As a result, the Brisbane beauty set out to conform her looks to what she truly felt on the inside. Amber started accumulating tattoos, piercings, and surgeries to start her complete transformation because she was determined to express her identity. She claims that her transformation saved her from a life of depression and possible suicide.
“This was me at 18 years old,” she wrote. “I was so catatonically depressed, suicidal and was a walking dead girl. I was numb. I hated myself majority of the time – that hatred ran deep. It tormented me, Now, I’ve totally transformed myself into someone I’m proud of being. I’m a strong woman who knows exactly what she wants and who she is.”
She is also currently training to be a counselor – she hopes she can help others with similar problems in the future.
“Society is so full of hatred and invalid opinions of you and what you look like… You wouldn’t bother to ask what I do with my life – I’m studying a diploma of counselling just to be able to assist people’s mental illnesses,” Amber said.
In a previous interview with Daily Mail Australia, Amber said her extreme look is met with mixed responses from strangers. Amber consistently laughs off those who caution her that she will regret her behavior as she gets older and insists that she is truly happy.
“I gained a lot of support and positive vibes from complete strangers – there was always the few nasty opinionated ones who try to make you feel inadequate, but I never let them get to me,” she said.
Addressing her trolls, she added: “If you’re reading this and you have nothing nice to say? Don’t say it at all. You never know what a person’s going through in their personal lives, be kind.
“I’m not harming anyone in the process, I’m doing what I want to do and if it makes me get up in the morning and be a happy person, then so be it.”
