We have been dealing with this pandemic for nearly two years, but our own CDC just realized now that N95 masks provide the most protection against Covid-19, and admitting cloth masks don’t really work.
On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday updated its guidance on masks for the general public, now saying that people “may choose” to wear N95 and KN95 because cloth masks don’t really work well Covid-19.
The update comes days after Rochelle Walensky, the head of the CDC, said the website is “in need of updating right now” to elaborate on the “different levels of protection different masks provide.”
The CDC said the N95 and KN95 masks provide the best protection due to their “filtering facepiece respirators.”
Although the CDC said N95 masks offer the best protection, they said people can still choose to wear a cloth mask if it fits properly.
The CDC said:
“When worn consistently and properly, they provide the highest level of protection from particles, including the virus that causes COVID-19. Additionally, they contain your respiratory droplets and particles so you do not expose others.”
When properly fitted, the masks filter 95 percent of particles. The CDC warns individuals who choose a KN95 mask to be careful, as 60 percent of the masks in 2020 and 2021 were fake.
The CDC said a shortage of N95s is no longer a concern and clarified that “surgical N95s” should be reserved for healthcare settings.
Meanwhile, on Thursday Biden announced at-home Covid tests and face masks will be available to Americans “for free.”
The high-quality (highly uncomfortable) N95 masks are supposed to be thrown away after one use so who is going to be paying for the millions of masks that need to be replaced daily?
