A teen from Illinois is facing charges after confessing to police that she shot and killed her mother in their living room in the town of Morrison.
According to the New York Post, 15-year-old Anna Schroeder allegedly shot and killed her mother Peggy Schroeder, 53, as the mother arrived home from work on Thursday.
A sheriff’s detective investigating the apparent homicide told SaukValley.com that Anna reportedly waiting for her with a .38 revolver, and asked her mother to put a towel over her face before shooting her in the head. The teen then texted a friend telling her that she had killed her mother, who was deaf. When the friend didn’t believe her, Anna texted a photo of her mother’s dead body.
Anna then reportedly asked the friend, Rachel Helm, to come help clean up the murder scene. The two girls spent hours cleaning the home and then went to Subway for a meal. While there, Anna reportedly heard that her father was coming to Morrison. She then became ill and vomited in the bathroom.

he girls then apparently decided they should flee, and dyed their hair different colors before setting fire to the house. But after hiding the gun and Anna’s phone in a cemetery, Anna went to see her father and Rachel went home to her parents.
Saukvalley.com reports that Rachel was so guilt-ridden that she confessed everything to her mother. And after police arrested Anna, she too confessed to the crime.
But before she was arrested, Anna posted a Facebook message memorializing her mother.
“I don’t even know if you can see me right now but if you can I just want you to know you were my best friend. There were so many things I wanted to say and do with you. I wasn’t always the best daughter and I’m so sorry. I love you so much mom I just want you to know and I’ll never forget you.”
Anna Schroeder was charged with first-degree murder but since she is under the age of 16 she will be going to juvenile court. She still has not given a motive for the murder.
