Want a woman who’s gorgeous enough to make your knees quiver and strong enough to kick your ass? Women’s sports may not always get the same amount of media coverage as men’s sports do, but they definitely have a way of grabbing your attention. From soccer to surfing, female athletes have to be in peak physical condition in order to reach the top of their game — and it doesn’t hurt that they look good while doing it, too.
Which sports draw the foxiest females? We’re counting down the 12 hottest athletes across the board (and the beauty in slide #5 comes from a sport you’d never expect).
#12 Alana Blanchard (Surfing)
Sun and surf definitely make for a winning combo when it comes to beach-kissed beauty, and Hawaiian-born surfer Alana Blanchard makes it look so effortless. Not only does she design her own line of swimwear, she also models it herself. Unsurprisingly, her bikini-clad Instagram account boasts over 1.8 million followers.
#11 Camille Leblanc-Bazinet (CrossFit)
We all have that one friend that won’t shut up about CrossFit. Unfortunately, they probably don’t look like Camille Leblanc-Bazinet. The 28-year-old was named “Fittest Woman on Earth” in 2014 and remains one of the sport’s winningest athletes, male or female. Oh, and she can deadlift 300 pounds.
#10 Michelle Waterson (Mixed Martial Arts)
Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson was a model before she became a badass athlete. Both a southpaw and strawweight, she’s been called one of the hottest rising stars on the professional MMA circuit. She’s not the only one on our list, though — click through to find out where her competition ranks.
#9 Sydney Leroux (Soccer)
This FC Kansas City forward is decorated with plenty of tattoos — and a gold medal to boot. At the 2012 London Olympics, she helped Team USA kick their way to victory with a decisive goal against New Zealand. You can check her out in video game form, too, in FIFA 16.
#8 Melanie Adams (Pole Vaulting)
Australian pole vaulter Melanie Adams started in on the sport at age 11 and went on to win two junior championships by the time she turned 21. Her competitive streak extends well beyond the track field, too: in 2006, she was a finalist in the Miss Teen Australia beauty pageant.
#7 Maria Sharapova (Tennis)
Maria Sharapova is one of tennis’ best-known players, a fact that may have as much to do with her talent behind the camera as well as on the court. She might not be too thrilled about who we voted ahead of her on slide #10, but as the highest-paid female athlete in the world, she can laugh it off on her way to the bank.
#6 Silje Norendal (Snowboarding)
Of course this fair-haired Scandinavian snow bunny is from Norway. Just 23 years old, Norendal placed fourth in the slopestyle event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, but has since earned gold at the 2015 Winter X Games in Aspen. Expect to see a lot more of her before the 2018 Olympics roll around.
#5 Danica Patrick (NASCAR)
Danica Patrick completely crashed the “boy’s club” of auto racing when she was named IndyCar’s Rookie of the Year in 2005. Since switching over to NASCAR in 2010, she’s made a name for herself by being not just an excellent female race car driver, but an excellent race car driver — period.
#4 Lindsey Vonn (Skiing)
America’s sweetheart of the slopes, Lindsey Vonn has been on skis practically since the time she could walk. Her scandalous body-paint photos in Sports Illustrated‘s 2016 swimsuit edition certainly got her a lot of media attention, as did her highly-publicized two-year relationship with pro golfer Tiger Woods.
#3 Serena Williams (Tennis)
Let’s face it: Part of what makes Serena Williams so attractive is her game on the court. She’s one of the most decorated athletes of all time, with four Olympic gold medals, 23 Grand Slam singles titles, and 14 more Grand Slam doubles titles with her sister Venus. Talk about a powerhouse — but could she beat our #1-ranked Hottest Female Athlete in a fight?
#2 Skylar Diggins (Basketball)
This Dallas Wings point guard isn’t just a two-time WNBA All-Star. She’s also a model for Nike, an interviewer on ESPN, and a social advocate to help combat childhood obesity. Sorry, fellas: the 26-year-old recently announced her engagement to her longtime beau, fellow Notre Dame athletics alum Daniel Smith.
All eyes were on Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey when she became the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo at the 2008 summer games in Beijing, and we haven’t been able to look away since. As an MMA fighter and an actress, her tough-babe looks make it sexy to be strong.
Today’s top female athletes are a lot more than just a pretty face — though, a lot of them have that going for them, too. While the rest of us struggle just to turn off the Netflix and tie up our gym shoes, these 12 women are turning up the heat on the field, in the ring, and everywhere in between. We couldn’t be happier to sit back and watch.
So who would win in a snow slope beauty contest: Lindsey Vonn or Silje Norendal? Leave your thoughts in the comments below, or share to let us know who you think should have made the list!
