She Did Everything She Could To Sleep With Inmates, And She Just Learned Her Fate…

A female corrections officer from California is grabbing headlines after it was reported that she had sex with an inmate in front of other inmates. She had also reportedly cut a hole in her pants to make it easier.

Tina Gonzalez, a 26-year-old correctional officer from Fresno County Jail has been described as “depraved” by her boss. Gonzalez pleaded no contest to the felony count of sexual activity by a detention facility employee with a consenting confined adult.

Gonzalez worked as a correctional officer between 2016-2019 and was arrested for her misdoing on May 1, 2020, following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s vice unit and the department’s internal affairs division.

Fresno County assistant sheriff Steve McComas accused Gonzales of endangering the safety of fellow prison officers, betraying her professional oath, and some of the most disgraceful behavior he’d experienced in 26 years with the force.

“Cutting a hole in your pants to make it easier to have sex with an inmate and having intercourse in full view of 11 other inmates is something only a depraved mind could come up with,” he said.

A detailed investigation into the corrections officer’s behavior found that she not only had sex with the inmate but also gave him contraband, including razors. In the prison setting, these devices are considered weapons. She would also alert her lover when he was going to be searched, so he could hide his contraband from the people who were looking for it.

Phone logs also found that Gonzalez maintained her connection to the inmate even after her affair with the man was discovered. She was loyal to him despite his confinement in the Fresno County Jail.

“She took an oath which she betrayed and in doing so endangered her coworkers’ lives,” McComas said. “But she has shown no remorse. She continually calls and has sexually explicit conversations with the inmate in question and boasts about the crimes she carried out.”

Her defense attorney said she was vulnerable at the time of the crime as it happened just after her marriage had ended.

The judge did not give her the maximum sentence for this crime, three years and eight months, saying he took note of her early plea and her lack of a previous criminal record. Instead, Gonzalez will spend seven months behind bars and two years on probation.

Speaking directly to her, Judge Michael Idiart said: ‘I think what you did was terrible, stupid, and you have ruined your career. But I also believe that people can redeem themselves and you have the rest of your life to do that. Good luck.’
