Pelosi Has Been Caught Bending Over Backwards To Protect Hateful Omar!

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to backtrack on Sunday, and she reassured Americans that her Democrat party did not, in fact, rebuke Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) for comparing both Israel and the United States to terrorist organizations.

Triggering Controversy

Omar started the controversy last Monday when she made a remark that seemed to lump together the U.S., Israel, Afghanistan, Taliban, and Hamas together as countries and organizations that she has deemed as being guilty of committing “unthinkable atrocities.”

“We need to have the same level of accountability and justice for all crime victims against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Israel, Hamas, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” Omar said.

Of course, Nancy Pelosi is the leader of the House Democratic Leadership, and they did something rather surprising for them: they actually released a statement that condemned Omar’s comparison.

“Now, of course legitimate criticism of the policies of both the United States and Israel is protected by the values inherent in free speech and democratic debate. Indeed, such criticism is always essential to the health and strength of both of our democracies. However, if you draw false equivalencies between democracies like Israel or the United States and groups that promote terrorism like Hamas and the Taliban, all you are doing is simply promoting prejudice and undermining progress toward a future of peace and security for all of us. We welcome the clarification by Congresswoman Omar that there is no moral equivalency between the U.S. and Israel and Hamas or the Taliban.”

Indeed, this statement came just a day after a group of 12 House Democrats had signed off on rebuking Omar, even though she later denied that she was conflating the U.S. with terrorist organizations.

What is Pelosi saying now?

During an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union” host Dana Bash confronted Nancy Pelosi over not only Representative Omar, but also Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), because they “don’t seem to be letting this go.”

Bash noted that both Pelosi and “top House Democrats released a very rare statement that rebuked Omar,” and that’s when it appeared that Pelosi backtracked a bit on her rare condemnation of Omar.

“OK. You know what? Let me just say this,” Pelosi began. “We did not rebuke her. We thanked her and acknowledged that she made a clarification.”

“Congresswoman Omar is a valued member of our caucus. She asked her questions of the secretary of state. Nobody criticized those, about how people will be held accountable if we’re not going to the International Court of Justice. That was a very legitimate question. That was not of concern,” Pelosi added.

“Members did become concerned when the tweet that was put out equated the United States with the Taliban and Hamas,” she continued. “And then she clarified it. And we thanked her for clarification.”

Pelosi said Friday that no disciplinary action will be taken against Omar.

To paraphrase a famous saying: if it walks like a flip-flop, if it talks like a flip-flop, then yes, it’s probably a flip-flop.

What do you think about these career Democrats and their lack of a spine?
