Audrey Hale, the transgender shooter who killed six people, including three children, at a Christian school in Nashville this week, is getting more attention in a new report.
A former teammate of Hale’s told The Tennessean on Thursday that she was “obsessive” and “stalkerish” toward her middle school friends.
Hale was shy when she joined the girls’ basketball team at Isaiah T. Creswell Middle School, according to teammate Mia Phillips.
“We embraced her and really befriended her,” Phillips said.
“Audrey was super timid when we first met her,” said another teammate, Averianna Patton. “We had real camaraderie. … We were like a family.”
Hale relished her time as a member of the basketball team. However, in recent years, her attempts to contact her former teammates have resulted in strange and unsettling interactions.

Phillips and Hale attended separate high schools after eighth grade, with Phillips later attending Middle Tennessee State University.
When she set up her college email account, she discovered an email from Hale waiting for her. Hale also sent her school mementos from their time together. Phillips has no idea how Hale obtained her address.
“It felt obsessive. It felt like stalkerish behavior,” she said.
Hale was uninvited to a birthday party at a bar attended by some of her former teammates in February 2022.
Phillips tried to get Hale’s phone to call her mother after she began acting drunk (despite others at the party claiming she hadn’t had anything to drink), but Hale refused to leave. When Phillips left, she received several messages from Hale pleading with her to return.

“Everybody was confused,” Phillips said. “It was just rubbing us in a weird way of, like, giving us a really negative feeling. It didn’t feel right.”
Hale and Phillips met at a funeral for one of their teammates who died in a car accident in August, with Hale following Phillips to her car afterward.
Phillips informed her that now was not the time to hang out.

According to the media, Hale lashed out at Christians because they refused to “accept” her LGBT identity. However, this report provides a more complete picture.
Hale clearly had some serious mental issues that allowed her to carry out a horrific shooting. Did her strange behavior toward her middle school friends stem from these circumstances?
The truth is that, no matter how mentally disturbed Hale was, she was not the victim. The people she senselessly murdered were the true victims.
However, if these mental illnesses, including gender dysphoria, are not addressed and treated properly, we will see more tragedies like the one in Nashville.
