A mother was arrested and jailed after she reportedly asked her partner to rape and impregnate her 12-year-old daughter.
The mother and stepfather admitted to plotting to use the girl as a surrogate after the mother learned that she was unable to have children. The court learned that the girl became pregnant as a result of the rape.
According to Daily Mail, Judge Andrew Lockhart harshly addressed the mother and stepfather in court:
“Great trust is placed in the hands of those who are parents; and when that trust is broken, great damage is done to the child and to society. You planned to have a child together, but were told it was not possible.
You both then decided that one way forward would be for her to become pregnant and for you to raise the child. That was a wicked thing to do. It had no regard for her age or for the future damage it would do, or for her welfare or the welfare of any child that might be born.
This was not just rape, but rape with the intention of ensuring the pregnancy of a 12-year-old child.”
The girl reportedly confided in a teacher about the rape, saying that her mother “sacrificed” her for the chance of having a baby.
“She [the girl] told the teacher: ‘She made me do it. He raped me, but she asked me to do it, my own mum,'” prosecutor Steven Bailey said.
Many readers expressed horror at the crime, and called for the mother to be punished severely.
“Good grief!! Poor girl her body is not ready for this or having a man rape her and the MOTHER KNEW!!! How horrible…, put that horrific woman in jail and let the inmates know what she did!!! Let her experience being raped every day for years to come!” one reader on Facebook commented.
“What the heck??? This is just so sick!!! I cant even process this one! I have kids this age and cant even imagine them being forced to have sex and for the purpose of having a baby!!! They need to be locked up for life!!! They ruined her life at such a young age they should have to pay with their lives!!!!” another wrote.
“We are given children as a privilege from God. We are given them to cherish and nurture not abuse. Bith of the adults were very selfish in their actions. I would rather be childless then to force my child to have a child. For one thing its wrong and second it was dangerous to the daughter. I hope they get what they deserve,” another added.
