McDonald’s Worker Exposes ‘What Comes Out Of McFlurry Machine’

A McDonald’s employee in Louisiana claims he was fired last week after sharing photos on Twitter showing what appears to be mold in trays from a McDonald’s ice cream machine, according to Buzzfeed News.

Nick, 18-year-old McDonald’s employee declined to provide his last name, said he was refilling the machine when he decided to clean part of it. When he removed the trays, what he saw disturbed him.

“I was completely shocked by what I saw,” Nick told Buzzfeed News. “I thought [the machine] would be cleaned regularly.”

Nick said he worked at the McDonald’s in LaPlace, La., for five months. He said he knew sharing photos of the machine could violate McDonald’s’ policy that discourages employees from damaging the McDonald’s brand or reputation .

Last week, a few weeks after taking the photos, he decided to share them anyway.

“I shared it because I wanted to let people know what they’re consuming, and how disgusting the conditions are,” Nick told BuzzFeed news.

The tweet quickly went viral, Nick said. Later that week, he said his boss fired him.

He said he was pressured to delete the tweets by people he believes represented McDonald’s. But Nick told Buzzfeed News that he’s just telling the truth.

“They said I was slandering [the] McDonald’s brand,” Nick told Buzzfeed News. “I don’t tweet lies. I took the tray out and took a picture.”

He told his followers: ‘I got fired from McDonald’s. I strategically planned this because I start working at my new job Friday. I planned on losing my job.’

His tweets have amassed thousands of responses and retweets from social media users.
