White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is set to leave her post at the end of the month, according to reporting from Sarah Roderick-Fitch of The Center Square.
President Donald Trump indicated that Leavitt, who recently returned from maternity leave after the birth of her daughter in May, is stepping away to spend more time with her growing family.
Trump described Leavitt as one of his most “trusted aides” and said she would remain close to his political operation as one of his “top outside advisors” and an influential Republican voice heading into the midterm elections.
Leavitt addressed the decision in a social media post Wednesday afternoon, calling her time in the role both historic and deeply personal.
“Serving as the White House Press Secretary over the past year and a half has been the honor and adventure of a lifetime. I am incredibly grateful to President Trump for granting me so many extraordinary opportunities, such as working in the West Wing,” Leavitt wrote, according to The Center Square.
She described the move as a “bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter” in her life.
Leavitt, 28, became the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history when she took the podium in January 2025. She served as the first press secretary of Trump’s second term.
Before joining the White House communications operation, Leavitt worked as Trump’s national press secretary during his 2024 presidential campaign.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no replacement had been announced, according to the report.
