Joe Biden Gets Terrible News From His Own Senate On His Controversial Nominee

In a surprise twist, Sen. Mitt Romney and Sen. Susan Collins, two so-called “moderate” Republicans have made a surprising announcement that has most everyone scratching their heads.

Maybe it was the massive backlash after the impeachment sham or maybe they just want to save face, but either way, these two moderate morons have said they would oppose Biden’s highly controversial pick of Neera Tanden to head up the Office of Management and Budget.

As the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice a day, so maybe this is their shining moment of clarity.

Here is more:

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said Monday he plans to oppose Tanden, meaning that it’s more likely than not she won’t be confirmed.

“Senator Romney has been critical of extreme rhetoric from prior nominees, and this is consistent with that position. He believes it’s hard to return to comity and respect with a nominee who has issued a thousand mean tweets,” Romney’s office said Monday in a statement to the Daily Caller, adding that Romney will vote against Tanden.

Shortly after the Biden White House announced the president would seek to nominate her, the vast majority of Republicans came out in opposition. In order to be confirmed, she was going to need at least one GOP senator ‘saye’ vote due to the chamber’s even 50-50 split after Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia announced Friday he would not support Tanden.

Romney joins fellow famously ‘moderate’ GOP Sen. Susan Collins of Maine to oppose Tanden.

“I have carefully reviewed Neera Tanden’s public statements and tweets that were personally directed towards my colleagues on both sides of the aisle from Senator Sanders to Senator McConnell and others. I believe her overtly partisan statements will have a toxic and detrimental impact on the important working relationship between members of Congress and the next director of the Office of Management and Budget,” Manchin said in the statement Friday.

Senators who oppose Tanden point to more than 1,000 tweets she has recently deleted which were hyper-critical of Republicans.

“The director of OMB is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the federal budget and plays a significant role in any Administration’s fiscal and regulatory agenda,” Collins said in her statement.

“Congress has to be able to trust the OMB director to make countless decisions in an impartial manner, carrying out the letter of the law and congressional intent. Neera Tanden has neither the experience nor the temperament to lead this critical agency. Her past actions have demonstrated exactly the kind of animosity that President Biden has pledged to transcend,” she added.

“In addition, Ms. Tanden’s decision to delete more than a thousand tweets in the days before her nomination was announced raises concerns about her commitment to transparency. Should Congress need to review documents or actions taken by OMB, we must have confidence that the Director will be forthcoming,” she continued.

Biden chose Tanden while she was still serving as head of the uber-left-wing and badly misnamed Center for American Progress. Picking her was so over-the-top to many Republicans that Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina was moved to describe her as a “nut job.”

“If you want to make sure this nut job Tanden doesn’t become the director of the budget, in charge of the Office of Management and Budget, then make sure we win in Georgia,” Graham said in an interview ahead of the two run-off elections in that state in which Democrats ultimately won both.
