How Kathy Griffin Got Back On Twitter After Being Given The Boot Is Absolutely….

After being banned from the social media site earlier in the day for imitating the newly appointed Twitter CEO Elon Musk, comedian Kathy Griffin apparently got back into the site on Sunday evening.

Since the firm was putting a new program into place Monday that would let anyone get a verified account for a monthly charge, Musk informed users that they would no longer be able to impersonate other identities going ahead.

The Comedian impersonated Musk by switching her profile picture to his image and her user name to “Elon Musk,” even though her handle remained “@kathygriffin,” and as a result, Griffin’s account was temporarily restricted.

Griffin was banned from the platform for impersonating him, and Musk reacted to the news on Twitter by first attacking her before agreeing to let her use the platform again.

Musk tweeted, Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian, but if she really wants her account back, she can have it.” She would have to pay the $8 price to use the new Twitter Blue, Musk subsequently said.

According to Deadline, Griffin returned to the platform and defended herself by tweeting “FreeKathy” while using the account of her deceased mother.

“Apologize in advance for all the comments you’re gonna have to read about how ugly I am and they’re probably gonna throw you in there too, Oh by the way this is KG. I’m tweeting from my dead mother’s account. She would not mind,” Griffin allegedly tweeted from her deceased mother’s account.

Musk said in a series of tweets that pretending to be someone else from a verified account will no longer be permitted around the time Griffin was suspended.

“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended, previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning,” Musk tweeted.

This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue, Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark,” Musk continued.

“Twitter needs to become by far the most accurate source of information about the world, that’s our mission,” Musk later added.

“My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk,” Musk tweeted. Asserts further that he does not oppose his views on free speech for banning accounts for impersonation.

“You may not impersonate individuals, groups, or organizations to mislead, confuse, or deceive others, nor use a fake identity in a manner that disrupts the experience of others on Twitter,” the company’s terms of service says. Impersonation of other people on Twitter is expressly forbidden by its terms of service.

The terms of service state that for parody accounts, the corporation does grant an exception, but the accounts must clearly identify themselves as parodies.

“If we determine a profile features another’s image, we will also evaluate the context in which the image is used. We are most likely to take action if an account falsely claims to be the entity portrayed in the profile photo, as with impersonation or fake accounts.”
