 Horror Strikes At Air Show As WWII Spitfire Nosedives Injuring Spectators [RAW VIDEO]

A World War Two Spitfire took a dramatic nosedive during take off, plowing its propeller into the ground before flipping over. Shards from the damaged propeller flew towards the huge crowds at the French airshow where the crash happened, injuring at least one spectator.

The accident took place in front of a horrified crowd, some of which raced towards the plane to help the stricken pilot. As video footage from the scene shows, many helped lift the plane up so the man could be pulled out.

But as soon as he is free, they scatter presumably scared the plane might explode or catch on fire. Firefighters arrived and covered the plane in water to eliminate any further risk, while the injured pilot was taken to the hospital.

His condition is unknown. A young woman was also taken to hospital for her injury from the flying propeller shard.  The accident happened at the Longuyon-Villette Airport, near the French city of Verdun.
