Recently there has been a lot of hate crimes in U.S. and former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton is calling on President Trump to denounce them.
Clinton tweeted about them and asked President Trump to take action against the murder of an Indian engineer who was shot dead at the Austins Bar & Grill in Olathe, Kansas, along with the increasing ratio of hate crimes in U.S.
“With threats & hate crimes on rise, we shouldn’t have to tell [the President of the United States] to do his part,” read Clinton’s tweet. “He must step up & speak out.”
In her social media outcry, Clinton referenced a story from the The Kansas City Star about the fatal shooting of an Indian immigrant in Olathe, Kansas, according to The Hill.
In her tweet Clinton has posted a link to the Kansas City Star article in which Sunayana Dumala the widow of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who with her husband immigrated to America from India to attend College, has asked the U.S government about how they are planning to stop these hate crimes.
“I have a question on my mind: Do we belong?”
“I need an answer from the government … What are they going to do to stop this hate crime?”
“We have read many times in newspapers of some kind of shooting happening and we always wondered, how safe?” said Dumala.
The incident took place last Wednesday night, leaving an Indian engineer dead and two other people injured and he President Trump has said nothing against this hate crime yet.

However, the White House press secretary Sean Spicer said that calling the incident a hate crime is too early.
Targeting Jewish organizations across the nation against anti-Semitism Trump made a statement:
“Anti-Semitism is horrible and it’s going to stop and it has to stop.”
Speaking on the recent discussions that Trump’s words had a connection to the shooting, according to Business Insider, Spicer said:
“I mean, obviously, any loss of life is tragic, to suggest that there’s any correlation I think is a bit absurd. So I’m not going to go any further than that.”
In a later briefing Spicer confirmed that the President condemns Anti-Semitism as well as the shooting of Kuchibhotla.
Referring to the shooting at a news conference and voicing the concerns of the president about the recent acts of vandalism against Jewish cemeteries in St. Louis and Philadelphia Spicer stated:
“No one in America should feel afraid to follow the religion of their choosing freely and openly. The president has dedicated to preserving this originating principle of our nation.
And while we’re at it, I don’t want to get ahead of law enforcement, but I was asked the other day about the story in Kansas, the shooting in Kansas. And while the story is evolving, early reports out of Kansas are equally disturbing”.
Referring the hate crimes beyond the state of Kansas, Hillary stated “JCC, threats, cemetery desecration and online attacks are so troubling and they need to be stopped” she further said “Everyone must speak out, starting with [the president of the United States].”
