Heroic Moment Of A Woman Saving A Schoolboy’s Life By Jumping In The Way Of Moving Car [VIDEO]

A woman heroicly saves a boy from a fast moving car which slams into the side of a restaurant.

It’s the kind of thing you would think you’d see only in a movie. Shanta Jordan, however, became a real-life hero after she was seen on surveillance footage jumping in front of a speeding vehicle in an attempt to push a young boy out of harm’s way. The dramatic scene captured by surveillance video unfolded at Junco’s in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The out-of-control car pinned Jordan and the child against a stone wall. Jordan attempted to push the little boy out of the way as the car came speeding down the road, but didn’t make it in time to get them both to safety. The pair flew into the air on impact, leaving both laying on the ground as by-standers rushed to help. Police say, however, that Jordan’s body absorbed much of the impact, likely ultimately saving the child’s life, although he still suffered serious injuries.

“If she did not step in, the child would be in direct contact with the motor vehicle against the wall, and most likely, he would have perished,” Bridgeport Police Chief A.J. Perez told KRON. “He would have died.” “I want to say thank you to this good person”,Perez said. “If it wasn’t’ because she stepped in, I truly believe it would have been a fatality.”

Jordan, the report noted, did not know the child she saved.

Both amazingly survived the incident and were rushed to the hospital, where the woman is recovering and the child is healing from an operation, during which surgeons tried to save his legs.

According to the report, doctors initially thought they would be forced to amputate both of the child’s legs, but surgeons managed to save them both after hours of operating.

According to KRON, the driver of the vehicle is also hospitalized and is facing multiple charges, including reckless driving.

Jordan is also still recovering in the hospital, but state and local leaders plan to pay special tribute to her at a ceremony at City Hall next week for her selfless and heroic actions.
