Everyone always wonders how they would react in a potentially dangerous situation. Would you fight back or would you freeze? No one knows how they will until they are in that situation. We all would love to think that most basic instincts would take over and you would fight back or have some clever scheme to get out of the situation, right?
So riddle me this, Batman.
How would you react if you were at a gas station and a van FULL of carjackers rolled up to attempt to take your vehicle?
The simple answer would be to back away from the car and let them take the vehicle, no car is worth possibly losing your life over, right?
However, that’s a rational mind thinking those thoughts. Those are not the thoughts of someone not in a stressful situation at all. So, what happens when you’re in “fight or flight” mode and you only have 5-seconds to decide?
What will your brain tell you to do?
Well, for one man in Chile, it meant dousing the bad guys and their van with a flood of gasoline.
And he didn’t stop, either…He kept that flow of gasoline going until the bad guys took off like bats out of hell, and a van full of flammable liquid.
You can watch the video below:
That's some quick thinking.

The man’s quick-thinking got mixed reviews online:
“Well, you can’t do this at a charging station, can you?”
“This was a super dangerous move. Look it was a split-second decision I get that, he used whatever he had literally at hand, so most likely instinctive rather than rational. But what I’m saying is that there is great danger in doing this. If someone on that van was smoking, most likely everyone would have died.”
“No bong hits on that ride home.”
“It’s good practice to always identify what items in your vicinity you can use to fight back.”
“I like the prolonged extra gas into the open door as they’re trying to get away. That’s my kind of spite.”
I’m intrigued by this. The first guy he shoots is not even threatening him, he’s only just gotten out of the car. The second guy clearly seems to be a threat, the one to his right. I guess I’m not clear on how he knew so rapidly that this was the right thing to do.”
“We have reached a low point when we are cheering this but it’s unfortunately necessary. “
“Hopefully they needed a cigarette to calm their nerves after their botched carjacking.”
“I appreciate the grit but not a smart move. The guy covered his own car in gas. It’ll get into the door jams, on the carpet, etc. He’ll be light-headed every time he goes for a ride.”
“Not sure if you’ve ever been doused with gas/petrol. In 5 to 10 minutes, those fellas are going to be in a world of hurt as it begins to burn.”
“Absolutely one of the top 5 things I’ve seen on Twitter.”
Well, alls well that ends well, but what do you think about this?
Was this the best reaction, or would it be better to just drop the gas pump and take off running?
