Georgia Classroom Brawl Between Teacher and Aide Caught On Video

As the children yelled for them to stop, a Georgia middle school science teacher and a paraprofessional got into a vicious classroom brawl that was caught on tape.

Brittany Randolph-Johnson, an eighth-grade teacher, and Milan Etheridge, a special education paraprofessional who assists Randolph-Johnson were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in a public place.

The women were arrested after a video captured the two ladies fighting in a classroom as their students screamed for them to stop. The brawl occurred on May 19th at Stone Mountain Middle School, which is northeast of downtown Atlanta. Horrified by what they saw, 2 students even tried to break up the fight but they were unsuccessful. Eventually, a staff member had to intervene and break up the altercation. One student spoke with CBS46 and shared what she witnessed.

Initially, it was not known why the two teachers were brawling. However, after speaking to media outlets, students that witnessed the fight shared that the fight was allegedly over a male teacher.

The DeKalb County School District spokesperson released this statement regarding the termination of the employees on Wednesday:

The two school employees caught on video in the fight in the classroom last Friday will be terminated following the conclusion of the appropriate district processes.

Interestingly enough, the district didn’t specify as to when the teachers would be terminated. However, many parents are speaking out as they feel both ladies should be dismissed of their duties immediately. Julia Berry, a parent of one of the students present during the fight, spoke to CBS 46 and expressed her concerns about the vicious brawl. Berry shared that the ladies set a horrible example in front of the students and she believes they should be terminated immediately.

Sadly, the student is correct. A teacher’s job is to not only educate students but to set an example for them as well. Because those ladies set a poor example, they should absolutely be terminated. Not that it matters but was he even fine? Regardless of whether the male teacher was attractive or not, teachers should never put the safety of their students at risk.
