Garth Brooks DECLINES Invite to Perform At Trump’s Inauguration

A source close to Brooks told TheWrap that the 54-year-old has declined to perform at the Jan. 20 event. The person did not disclose why the country music legend decided against playing the high-profile show.

Brooks, who did not endorse a candidate this year after ending a long career hiatus in 2014, stated two weeks ago he was open to the idea of helping to ring in the Trump era.

“It’s always about serving. It’s what you do,” he told a TMZ film crew.

The “Unanswered Prayers” singer was just one of a handful of A-list stars who have been floated to perform at the ceremony.

Trump met with Kanye West at Trump Tower on Tuesday, but an aide close to the president-elect confirmed that West will not perform at the inauguration either.

“We’ve been friends for a long time,” Trump told reporters after their meeting, while West later wrote online: “I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future president if we truly want change.”
