A fisherman has described his shock after finding a mole inside the mouth of a bass he caught.
Monroe MacKinney, 22, from Missouri, hooked the surprising catch at his parents’ eight-acre pond before snapping a picture.
The amazing image shows the mole in the bass’s mouth with its hands either side of the fish’s throat, looking exactly as if it has just popped out of a hole.

MacKinney revealed he almost missed out on the catch on May 31, after deciding to wrap up for the day after three hours on the water.
But he decided to stay out a little longer after noticing some activity on the far end of pond, so went over for a few more casts.
Monroe barely hooked the bass, he said, and though most of the lure was hanging out of the fish’s mouth, he successfully reeled it in.
It was when removing the hook to release the fish that a shocked Monroe discovered the mole inside his catch.
Monroe said that the mole was dead by the time he discovered it, but the fish was released after a few photographs.
Mr MacKinney said he has no idea how the fish got hold of the rodent (file image) and added that the creature was dead by the time he spotted it
He said: ‘I went to lip him so I could remove my hook and that’s when I saw something in its mouth.
‘I didn’t know what it was and I almost dropped the fish back in the water.
‘I was hesitant to remove the hook, but upon further inspection I realized it was a mole inside the fish’s mouth.
‘I had no idea how the bass got ahold of a mole. I was speechless – I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
‘I knew I had a once-in-a-lifetime catch, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to get a few pictures of it.’
