Disney has revised the lyrics of two songs from the upcoming “The Little Mermaid,” with composer Alan Menken confirming the changes.
The live-action adaptation of the iconic animated 1989 classic will include numerous new songs as well as revisions to old classics like “Kiss The Girl” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” Both were co-written by composer Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman.

Menken told Vanity Fair that the song “Kiss the Girl,” sung by Sebastian the crab, has been modified so that the listener understands Prince Eric would never “force himself on Ariel.”

“There are some lyric changes in ‘Kiss the Girl’ because people have gotten very sensitive about the idea that [Prince Eric] would, in any way, force himself on [Ariel],” the composer said.

In the original song, the lyrics are: “Yes, you want her. Look at her, you know you do. Possible she wants you, too. There is one way to ask her. It don’t take a word. Not a single word. Go on and kiss the girl.”
Another famous song from the classic animated movie has the evil sea witch Ursula singing: “The men up there don’t like a lot of blabber. They think a girl who gossips is a bore! Yet on land it’s much preferred for ladies not to say a word. And after all dear, what is idle babble for?”

Menken told the outlet, “We have some revisions in ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ regarding lines that might make young girls somehow feel that they shouldn’t speak out of turn, even though Ursula is clearly manipulating Ariel to give up her voice.”
This is all a sham and what else would you expect from a company that is hell-bent on pushing the leftist agenda?
Listen, so many of us grew up listening to these songs and I can honestly say that I or my friends and siblings did not get the wrong message from any of these delightful tunes.
They were fun and easy to sing.
It took you away to a fairytale land where there were princes and princesses.
We enjoyed the magical element of it all and let it be.

I could understand if this movie was following the original plot of “The Little Mermaid.” You know the one written by Hans Christian Andersen and “The Little Mermaid” never got her prince and dies at the end.
Now, that I could see causing some major nightmares for kids.
However, in the Disney version, we see a young girl falling in love and using her feminine wiles to entice a man.
As women, we send off signals that tell a man that we are open to a kiss, and when you watch the movie she is sending them clearly.
Ariel and Eric share an innocent kiss that was romantic and sweet.
Let’s not ruin everything for kids and make it more sinister than it really is.
