A Texas daycare worker is facing felony charges after video surfaced this week showing her slam a small toddler on the ground.
Plano police took Jazmine Torres into custody Tuesday and charged her with child endangerment, reports Fox News.
A mother watching a live surveillance video of the Children’s Courtyard daycare noticed the worker toss her 18-month son face-first onto his mat. Parents quickly jumped to share the video over various social media platforms.
“The child, who was moving before all of a sudden after getting thrown to the ground is no longer moving,” Plano police spokesman officer David Tilley told NBC 5. “She [the worker] then covers the child up and then sits down and proceeds on with her day.”
The daycare staff didn’t believe the mother at first when she told them what had happened, police said. They had to watch the video themselves.
The daycare announced they investigated the situation and subsequently fired Torres.
“Upon being made aware of this situation, we immediately notified the authorities and partnered with the state as well as conducted our own investigation,” the statement read. “Those involved are no longer employed.”
A hospital examined the child and didn’t find any injuries on him, police said.
The Children’s Courtyard didn’t return TheDCNF’s request for comment.
