CPS Forced To Fire Social Worker After What They Told A CHILD To Do For Extra Cash….

An employee of a state agency that looks into child abuse and exploitation was fired for encouraging a 14-year-old in the agency’s custody to engage in sexual acts, according to a Texas Department of Family and Protective Services representative on Sunday.

After a conversation with the child, who taped the conversation while she was in foster care, the unnamed Texas Department of Family and Protective Services official was dismissed.

Houston’s KRIV-TV initially aired the video. Before finding a foster family, the girl was staying in a hotel. In the footage, the girl is seen begging the employee for food before receiving encouragement to become a prostitute.

“The person in the video – who was employed as [child protective services] support staff — was dismissed from her position August 10,” Marissa Gonzales, the DFPS spokesperson, said in a statement. “The safety and appropriateness with which children in care must be treated is our paramount concern. Nothing less will be tolerated.”

Before overseeing children, all personnel receives training, Gonzales told The Texas Tribune. The child’s mother and DFPS Commissioner Jaime Masters have received an apology.

The child’s mother, Keisha Bazley, told Fox 26: “My daughter told me that the worker had been telling her to do these things, so she said she decided to video her,” Bazley had filed a formal complaint with the department.

According to Gonzales, the girl is still in foster care as of Monday.

Myko Gedutis, an organizing coordinator for the Texas State Employees Union said that the sacked employee has two business days to contest the dismissal. Gonzales claimed that the employee declined to provide that argument and that Gedutis would not speak for her.

However, Gedutis did accuse the state in general of “storing children in hotels,” which he called an “unmitigated calamity on behalf of the agency.”

This is merely the most recent crisis to affect the state’s child welfare agency, which has come under fire for years for failing to provide proper care for some of the most vulnerable kids in the state.

The state has received harsh criticism from a federal judge for failing to adequately sanction or close down unsafe child care placement establishments. The News Antonio reported that District Judge Janis Jack has also reprimanded the state for its insufficient background checks on caretakers.
