CNN is proving daily that they gave up trying to be journalists and shifted their business to propaganda distributors. The problem is that they are just as pathetic at that than they were with journalism and that’s no small task. All day on Tuesday and Wednesday the talking heads at CNN were reporting that their anonymous sources told them that Comey was going to dispute Trump’s assertion that Comey told him three times that he was not under investigation.
Unfortunately for CNN, Comey confirmed that he did indeed tell Trump three times he was not a target of the investigation and also that there was nothing improper about it. The byline on the original story included Gloria Borger, Eric Lichtblau, Jake Tapper and Brian Rokus. Comey left no doubt that Trump was right.
But that’s not the end of their fake news. Obviously, they could not leave the article as is. But on the other hand, saying that Trump was right about anything is the quickest way to collect an unemployment check. They put careful thought into it and they came up with an idea that fit their narrative.
CNN’s correction:
CORRECTION AND UPDATE: This article was published before Comey released his prepared opening statement. The article and headline have been corrected to reflect that Comey does not directly dispute that Trump was told multiple times he was not under investigation in his prepared testimony released after this story was published.
Reading the correction and assuming that you haven’t been living with Sherpas in the mountains of the Himalayas. , you would assume that Comey neither confirmed or denied Trump’s assertion. But in Comey’s opening statement, he even gave the dates and the times ofm the meetings in which he told Trump he wasn’t being investigated. Covering up fake news by issuing new fake news is the type of innovation that the NYT and the WaPo will be eager to copy and master.
