Charged With KILLING A Trespassing Illegal Alien, He Just Got News That Changes The Game…

A 73-year-old rancher from Arizona, George Alan Kelly, has been charged with second-degree murder after being accused of killing a Mexican national who was found shot dead on his property. The property is located about a mile and a half from the Mexican border. Fox News reported that the charge was downgraded from first-degree murder in the Santa Cruz County Justice Court.

Kelly’s court-appointed attorney, Brenna Larkin, entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. Larkin addressed the decision to downgrade the charge, saying that second-degree murder is a more complicated theory for both the defense and the state. Kelly was released on a $1 million bond, which was raised through donations to the Christian fundraising platform, GiveSendGo.

Larkin argued in court that Kelly had been afraid for his life when a group of armed men walked through his property on January 30th. The attorney explained that the leader of the armed group pointed an AK-47 at Kelly, who fired several shots from his rifle to protect himself, his wife, his animals, and his home. Larkin said that Kelly aimed well over the heads of the armed men and that they ran into the desert surrounding his home.

Larkin added that none of the men on Kelly’s property was known to him, and he had not given any of them permission to be there. Later that day, Kelly discovered the body of a man, identified as Gabriel Cuen-Butimea. Larkin said that Cuen-Butimea had a radio with him and was wearing tactical boots, which suggested he may have been involved in illegal activity.

Kelly claimed that he did not believe any of his warning shots could have hit the person or caused the death. Larkin argued that all of the shooting that Kelly did on the day of the incident was in self-defense and justified.

The case has attracted media attention and has sparked debates about the use of force to defend one’s property. The situation at the U.S.-Mexico border has been tense in recent years, and it is not uncommon for border ranchers to encounter illegal activity on their properties. The trial is ongoing, and it remains to be seen how the case will be resolved.
