A 28-year-old Sylmar woman was arrested after being accused of skipping out of pricey salon treatments without paying.
De Cielo Salon and Spa in Burbank, California is known for its extra level of customer service, so in February of 2015 when a young woman walked in claiming to have an appointment, they managed to squeeze her in, even though they could find no such record of said appointment.
The woman, identified as Ashley, claimed that she would be taking her engagement photos and wanted to look perfect. One of the stylists, Samantha, set the young bride to be up at her station and began what turned into a six hour makeover including coloring, hair extensions, styling, and even a manicure.
After the arduous six hour long procedure, Samantha turned away for just a few moments and that is when Ashley bolted for the door, leaving a bill for over nine hundred dollars in salon charges.
She managed to run to a waiting SUV which then drove off.
What she did not know was that de Cielo Salon and Spa has security cameras throughout their firm. These cameras were able to catch tons of footage of the brazen crook, and later that night, owner Michael Villalobos posted some of the footage to the salon’s Facebook page hoping someone might recognize her. The next day, he received notice from another hair salon that they had been ripped off by the same woman.
Police quickly intervened and within forty eight hours, the woman had been arrested and charged.
