Anti-Donald Trump protesters clashed with police Friday following the president’s inauguration.
Police in riot gear were attacked by protesters throwing bricks as Metropolitan Police were clearing a street by employing stun grenades, rubber bullets and tear gas. One protester was visibly injured with a gash on her leg.
The protesters later moved off to the side of Franklin Square, mere blocks from the White House, where they started a fire in the middle of the street and smashed the windows of a parked limousine. Many of the protesters wore black masks and bandanas in effort to shield their identity.
Anti-Trump protests have occurred all throughout the nation’s capital Friday, there have been nearly 100 arrests and storefront windows have been damaged. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser tweeted following the violent clash near Franklin Square that “the damage that has occurred today is unacceptable and not welcome in DC.”
